This week, I read New Yorkers.
This book consists of 5 short stories.

1.   The Christmas Presents

5.   The Memento


I'm going to introduce "The Christmas Presents".


Jim and Della, a young married couple, live in poverty but get along well with each other.

On the day before Christmas, Della is worried that she doesn't have enough money to buy Jim a present, and finally decides to sell her long hair, her most prized possession.

With the money in exchange for the hair, Della finds the perfect chain for Jim's prized pocket watch and gives it to him as a gift.

When Jim comes home that night and sees Della's shortened hair, he is stunned.

Jim had sold his prized gold watch and bought a comb set for Della as a gift.

Pocahontas

  This week, I read "Pocahontas". This is a book about an woman who prevented war during two countries. When I started to read this book, I thought she would get married with John Smith who is a English leader, but they didn't get marry, and Pocahontas got marrired with another man.      "I loved you so much, but now I have a son and a husband, and they love me. You and I cannot be friends. Goodbye, John Smith."(p,39) This is Pocahontas's serif. I thought this part is interesting, because she blames him over and over, and I can understand her feeling. I couldn't understand Smith's feeling, and I was surprised at an unexpected development. This story was made into a movie by disney. KUNG FU PANDA HOLIDAY

  Po try to cook at the Jade palace at winter festival. He can't cook very well. So he asked his father to cook at the palace, but he refuse it. Po's father said, "At Winter Festival I always cook dinner for family and friends." I thought Po should spend with his family and friends,  and his father looked sad. After that, he was helped by his friends, so they could cook  at the palace. And Po helps his father, everyone is happy☺ They should spend time with their favorite people at winter festival.

This week I read Australia and New Zealand. This book tells us what countries Australia and New Zealand are, the history of Australia and New Zealand, indigenous people, animals, nature, famous people and so on. I'll show you what I was interested in Australia is a big country. It's 6th largest country all over the world. The journey from Perth in the west to Sydney in the east takes about four hours by plane. If you walk all around Australia along the coast, you will travel 25,760km.  Uluru (Ayers Rock) ・ One of the most beautiful things you can see in Australia. ・ The length is 3km and the height is 348m, but it continues to 2100m underground. ・ In the evening, the yellow color changes to gold, red, and sometimes purple. (2) Great Barrier Reef ・ The longest coral reef in the world, covering about 2000km. Born 15,000 years ago, there are 1500 kinds of fish inhabiting it.
